The Development Manager will report to and work closely with the Executive Director to achieve TSF’s annual fundraising goals. Anticipated duties include helping review and implement the organizational fundraising strategy, maintaining relationships with previous and current funders, identifying and cultivating prospective corporate sponsors, leading individual giving campaigns, planning and executing fundraising events, and identifying and applying for unrestricted and program-specific grant opportunities.
The Development Manager will also help ensure that TSF is in compliance with all grant terms and conditions and will take the lead on meeting grant reporting requirements.
Operational Support (15%)
Primarily responsible for satisfying financial, narrative, and other reporting requirements for non-federal funders
Assist in managing fundraising support staff, as needed
Build out and maintain CRM system
Works with Executive Director to revise and implement organizational fundraising strategy
Engages and maintains positive relationships with previous and current funders
Identifies and cultivates prospects for future funding
With Executive Director, co-leads efforts to secure corporate sponsorships and individual financial contributions
Leads efforts to research, prioritize, apply for, and win opportunities for grant funding for both general operations and new and existing programmatic support
Plans, secures sponsorships and product donations for, and executes fundraising events
Assumes other duties as reasonable and necessary to achieve annual fundraising targets
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates for this position will possess:
A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience and a graduate degree in a related field, preferably business administration or non-profit management; or at least three (3) years of relevant work experience and an undergraduate degree in a related field
Superb interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
An ability to manage multiple priorities and meet ambitious timeline and fundraising targets
Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising best practices
An ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and follow through on implementation
Experience in building and maintaining key relationships
A demonstrated passion for TSF’s mission
Ability to travel (10-15%) to regional and national conferences and trade shows
Strong existing knowledge of – and professional connections within – the domestic solar industry is highly desired
Additional Salary Information: The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 per year, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The Solar Foundation provides its staff with a competitive benefits package including enrollment in a 401(k)-retirement plan with a capped employer match, health insurance, paid time off, professional development funds, etc. This is a full-time position, and in accordance with the provisions of federal wage and hour laws, this position is classified as exempt, meaning this position will not be eligible for overtime pay. Employment at The Solar Foundation is at-will.
