Mercy College has an exciting new position open for Director of Development. In this position, you will be responsible for enhancing the financial resources of the College and managing all aspects of fundraising initiatives. You'll be involved in expanding the College's development plan, building and maintaining relationships and increasing support with current and potential donors, implementing fundraising campaigns, and marketing and communications of events. Special functions include:
Maintaining moves management schedule with 50-100 major donor prospects for the College leading to targeted face-to-face solicitations.
Increasing new donor prospects by identifying potential new donors including alumni, community members, grantors and corporations.
Implementing annual fundraising activities including an annual appeal, direct mail and grant writing.
Coordinating with the Mercy Foundation to support donor outreach, fund management and donor acknowledgements.
Ensuring adequate and appropriate donor recognition programs at all levels of giving.

Three years’ experience in major gift fund raising in a higher education environment.
Demonstrated experience managing a donor portfolio and proven track record soliciting five and six figure gifts.
Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and prioritizing simultaneous donor activities and special projects.
Demonstrated understanding of issues facing health care and higher education.
Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills. Proven record of work with and supervision of volunteers and volunteer boards.
Experience in fundraising in Des Moines with a broad community network is preferred.
